My name is Tahni and I have the pleasure of being the red room team leader.
My love for children and teaching began in my home town, in Gippsland, where I was a part time dance teacher at my mums local dance school. From there I was interested in furthering my study of child development so I decided it was time for a change in scenery, and moved to Melbourne in 2014, which is when I fell in love with Little Assets.
I enjoy every day I have with the children and believe that they are all unique and very special in their own ways. I believe in a program that is based on the children’s interests, then extending on those interests while introducing new appropriate topics for the children to learn about. My work approach includes encouraging the children to take risks (the good sort!) and to develop their emerging autonomy by using problem solving and self-help skills. I provide a flexible/non-hurried learning environment, and take lead from the children when appropriate. My young and approachable personality makes both the children and their families feel comfortable around me and feel as though I can be trusted. My favourite part about coming to the centre each day is having lots of fun while interacting with the children and watching them grow as individuals. Reflective practice is something that I strongly agree with and I am continuously seeking ways to improve as an educator. I also run a dance program, ‘Dance For Joy’ for the children every fortnight where they learn different jazz/ballet steps, show off some of their moves and have lots of fun.
Red Room provides care for children aged 1.5 years to 2.5 years. The ratios are well maintained at all times to ensure high quality supervision and interaction among the educators.
Our large outdoor play space is shared with Orange and Blue Room, provides children an opportunity to explore various kinds of play including slides, sandpit, bikes, see-saw, balancing beam, etc.
