Yellow Room – Childcare for 4 to 6 year olds

Little Yellow Asset

Melbourne Childcare Centre for 4 to 6 year olds

The Kindergarten room at Little Assets childcare centre at Melbourne CBD offers care for children aged 4-6 years old. Children who complete 4 years in the pre-kinder rooms are easily transitioned to the kindergarten program.

Going to kindergarten is one of the first steps your child can take to help prepare for school. It will teach them skills that they will keep building on as they grow. At kindergarten, your child will grow socially and emotionally. Their ability to think, use and recognize language will be developed through play, art, dance, music and movement, and interacting with others.

They will be involved in many activities, including:

  • Guided Creativity, which could include painting, cutting shapes and origami (which is especially great for developing fine motor skills as well as communication).
  • Group Activities. This may involve playing music in a group, dancing in a group, or simply group play. No matter which activity occurs, your child will learn how to interact with other children, which is a vital skill.
  • Mathematics, reading, and writing. All of these activities will be guided and supported by our lovely educators.

Children feel motivated to learn when they have opportunities to make choices in an environment that is enriching and stimulating. Children are naturally curious and have a desire to learn from their environment and those around them. When they are encouraged to interact with their peers and adults in positive ways, they feel safe to explore their surroundings.

In our kinder program, we seek to guide children from needing assistance with a task to accomplishing a task independently by providing experiences that are challenging yet attainable for each child. We facilitate learning through the in-depth study of a subject that is of interest to children. As education facilitators, our team supports children as they embark on a journey to make discoveries about themselves and learn to recognize and name their feelings.

About Our Childhood Educator: Annie Liu

Annie Liu

My name is Weiyan (Annie) Liu, and I have been working at Little Assets Early Learning Centre since June 2015. I am also the Educational Leader at Little Assets. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in China, and accomplished my first Masters of Teaching degree with Melbourne University, specialising in Primary Teaching in 2011. Since then, I have been actively involved in various educational settings, including government and independent schools, as well as early childhood services. Due to my strong interest in early childhood education, I chose to revisit for further professional development and graduated with my 2nd Masters of Teaching (Early Childhood) degree with Monash University.

I always take a holistic approach to teaching and learning. I am convinced that a child’s enthusiasm towards learning is one of the most precious treasures in life. It is an early childhood educators’ responsibility to create an inviting learning environment that will arouse, encourage and develop a child’s enthusiasm for learning, regardless of their age, gender, race, religious belief or social background. I believe that positive partnerships with families, communities and relevant professionals are pivotal for children to reach their maximum potential. It is my privilege to support every child along their exciting, educational journey.
